Although throughout most of the class I felt pretty confident that I would be able to complete the training and run the marathon, there were a couple of times when I had second thoughts and even considered dropping out. I had to miss one of the longer Saturday runs because my young son was in the hospital with a respiratory virus and both my husband and I ended up with the flu. My son had been sick quite a bit that winter and at that point I remember thinking, “What am I doing in this class when I have my son to take care of? Shouldn’t I be there for him instead of out running?” When I called Forrest and left a message that I wasn’t going to be able to make the run, I guess I was really considering dropping out.
